Bob Tier started entertaining in the late ‘70s. In 1980, he became part of a children’s puppet theatre group, The Pegasus Players. In the early ‘80s, while in college, he was involved in the professional theatre company, Panache Productions. During those times, he started his disc jockey career, and in 1984 Bob graduated from Bloomsburg University with a degree in Mass Communications.
During the ‘80s, he had the opportunity to work in commercial radio, and worked for a variety of companies as a disc jockey. Additionally, he worked in the corporate world as a sales manager and sales trainer.
It was the culmination of his theatre, management, and communications experience that led to the start of The Party People. Throughout his career he has personally entertained at over 1,000 weddings, and helped countless brides who attended Bob’s “How to Organize Your Wedding Reception” seminars.
Bob has been recognized nationally for his marketing ideas. He was a staff writer for the industry publication DJ Times and taught at the Pennsylvania School of Broadcasting. During the past several years, he has been working with Ozzy’s Fun Sports Center as a team-building facilitator.
The Party People got their name because of Bob’s affinity for alliteration. He felt that the best times he had working in the ‘80s were with Pegasus Players and Panache Productions, so “The Party People” seemed like a natural name for a company built on fun.
From the beginning, Bob made sure he was surrounded by talented entertainers. Most came to the company with prior entertainment or broadcasting experience; in fact, the success of the company really hinged on what those entertainers brought to the company. As the years went on, he added a host of other types of entertainers, including caricaturists, psychics, live musicians, hypnotists, magicians, etc.
In 2008, The Party People were involved in over 650 events. Although most of them have been in the Berks Country area, the company has entertained as far north as Ithica, NY … west to Pittsburgh, east to Cape May, NJ … and south to Daytona, FL.
(Okay, that last one was a fluke, but it was still cool, and If we want to get technical, Bob also entertained on a cruise ship on the Aegean Sea, but that’s just outright bragging.)
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Bob Tier of the Party People, Inc. in PA for the past seven years… I continue to do so because Bob goes out of his way to make sure he is providing high quality service and entertainment for our students. He’s creative, adaptable, has excellent customer service and fair pricing, and quite frankly, he makes my job easier. Whether I am using the Party People for DJ services, inflatables, entertainers, or interactive games- or even for different audiences- children, college students or professional conference attendees… I have confidence that Bob will deliver every time so that my event is a success.

Whether contributing one of his unique games such as Crazy Bob's Electronic Giveaway or providing some additional creative force to add extra value to your event, Bob consistently delivers. His inventions are exciting, encourage the broadest audience participation possible, and make a last mark on participants who are often thirsting for more.
by the way, by far, that's among the easiest of references I've ever written -- I had to hold myself back from a book!

sorry ... couldn't do it in one paragraph ...
There are countless challenges to creating a successful campus activities program, but I avoid a significant amount of them by booking dozens of events each year with Bob Tier of the Party People. When I book with Bob, I know the students are going to have a great time, the event is going to go smoothly and I have piece of mind knowing that he carries a large amount of insurance coverage. My facilities and instructional technology departments love the fact that he takes care of his own event set ups.
Although these are all great reasons to book with Bob, they are not the primary reason I book him. The main reason Bob is typically my first call is because he is in credibly student-centered and he understands and values the importance of getting each and every student in the room involved. The only wall-flowers at a Bob Tier event are the ones taking a break from all the fun to catch their breath and get watered.

Though I've only been at Penn State Berks for a semester, working with Bob and The Party People has been a great experience so far! The students love the events and The Party People staff is always fantastic. I appreciate that they use Berks County local vendors, artists, and performers. Most are self contained from start to finish, which makes for a stress-free event!
